Man sexually assaults 2 women, approaches another in East Vancouver

Police are hunting for a man suspected of sexually assaulting two women, and approaching another woman, in East Vancouver early Wednesday morning.

The first incident came just before 12:30 am, when a 22-year-old woman was walking in the area of Monmouth Avenue and Joyce Street.

A man approached her from behind and asked her not to move, but she fled the scene and called police.

Then at about‎ 1 am, a 34-year-old woman was entering an apartment building near Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue when a man grabbed her from behind. She screamed and the man ran off.

Later, at around 2 am, a man grabbed a 21-year-old woman from behind on East 46th Avenue near Doman Street, pulled her into the bushes outside an unoccupied house, and sexually assaulted her.

In all of the incidents, t‎he suspect was described as a man aged 20-40 years old, between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 8 inches tall, and wearing dark clothing.

“We are encouraging anyone with information about these attacks, or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, to contact police,” says VPD Staff Sgt. Randy Fincham.

“We are advising the public to look out for one another, while officers work diligently to identify and locate the attacker.”
