37-year-old succumbs to injuries after fatal motorcycle crash

A 37-year-old man has sadly succumbed to his injuries after a motorcycle crash that took place in Delta on Sunday, June 10.

Delta Police were called to the scene shortly after 9 am after receiving reports of a single-vehicle collision.

The motorcyclist was said to have been exiting Deltaport onto the 2700 block of Deltaport way. According to authorities, there is the potential that he came into contact with an exit gate just prior to or during the collision.

No other vehicles were involved.

The driver, from Delta, was taken immediately to hospital but was unfortunately declared as deceased shortly after.

According to Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for the Delta Police, “due to the serious nature of the crash, the Delta Police collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to identify, document, and measure the physical evidence.”

Police were on scene until approximately 4 pm, closing one lane of Deltaport Way for several hours. At this time, the collision still remains under investigation.

The fatality is the second known motorcycle collision in the past week. Another 24-year-old from Surrey suffered fatal injuries after a collision with an SUV on Monday, June 4.
