Deadpool 2 and Ryan Reynolds start filming in Vancouver this week

Everyone’s favourite foulmouthed anti-hero is back to break the fourth wall, beat the bad guys, and above all, close down Vancouver’s streets.

Yes, Ryan Reynolds is back in town to film Deadpool 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s very adult – and very successful – superhero movie.

According to posters put up all over Vancouver, filming for Deadpool 2, going under the codenames Daisy and Caribbean Blue, is beginning Tuesday.

On 1090 West Pender Street, cast and crew will be filming dialogue scenes from 7 pm to 11 pm on Tuesday.

Filming will also take place in alleys in the 300 blocks of Cambie and West Cordova Streets on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8 pm to 6 am each night.

Deadpool stopped traffic in Vancouver in 2015, when filming on the Georgia Viaduct saw the commuter route shut down every day for weeks.

The movie went on to make $783.1 million at the box office.

The film stars Vancouver’s own Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson, a former mercenary turned antihero after he’s given mutant powers–and massive scarring.

Reynolds already began filming Deadpool 2 elsewhere in BC earlier this month, posting a photo of Deadpool reclining outside Victoria’s Hatley Castle.

Dropped by X-Mansion. Looked closely for Beast’s lawn bombs before taking well deserved nap.
