Chrissy Teigen visits Vancouver, gets dining tips from Seth Rogen

Vancouver is a food lover’s paradise, and no one seems more sure of that these days than actor Seth Rogen, who took to Twitter Thursday night to offer visiting celeb (and fellow foodie) Chrissy Teigen some dining recs.

Teigen, who greeted Vancouver with a simple “In Vancouver! Hi Vancouver!” tweet, is presumably in our fair city to accompany husband John Legend, who hit all the right notes for fans Thursday night at his “Darkness & Light” tour stop at Rogers Arena.

Thank you Vancouver!! Such a wonderful crowd!!!! #DarknessAndLightTour

Rogen, a native Vancouverite who has been spending time working here recently, gave the Cravings author some pretty on point food tips: The wings at Phnom Penh, the Thai food at Maenam, fish tacos at Go Fish, and the Night Market in Richmond (“for everything” enthuses Rogen).

No Small Victory for coffee, though, Seth? Hmmm.

He’s right on, too. Those salty-sweet crispy chicken wings at the Cambodian Phnom Penh are phenom, and Maenam dishes up some wicked good Thai eats, and you will indeed find it all at the Night Market–the last of which runs on the weekends, so here’s hoping Teigen and Legend can hang in Vancouver before heading south for his Saturday and Sunday night gigs in Woodinville, Washington.

Teigen and Legend had a ton of offers and suggestions for their Vancouver stay, from fans willing to babysit, to those urging the couple to meet them for drinks. Yaletown’s House Special, a modern Vietnamese restaurant, enticed with a freebie:

Did they know that, according to her own social media, Teigen was up all hours Wednesday making her own pho? So far we haven’t heard if the lure worked for House Special and Teigen and Legend like it did for Big Star Sandwich in New West and actor Liam Neeson.

It’s not clear where the star couple dined or stayed; Vancouver has a couple of top tier hotels that draw touring musicians, like the Shangri-La, Sutton Place, and the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Each of those spots has an excellent restaurant inside, perhaps the most buzzworthy of which these days is the Pac Rim’s shiny new Botanist. That would definitely be our rec!

In any case, Vancouver says a big HI back to Teigen and Legend. And anyone visiting would do well heeding Rogen’s tweeted tips.
