Well folks, it’s almost here.

Canada has officially been a Confederation for 150 years – and that’s a big number by North American standards – so it’s time for us Canucks to celebrate this milestone the best way we know how, eating and drinking all the patriotic goodies we can get our hockey-playing-syrup-loving hands on!

This occasion is so big that everyone is doing something special to make July 1 the most delicious day in Canadian history.

RibFest 2017, the eighth annual ribs competition, will heat things up on Canada Day  at Mamie Taylor’s in Chinatown. Look for ribs and eats from Dixie’s BBQ, Railtown Cafe, the Blueprint Group, Merchant’s Workshop, and Mamie Taylor’s. Only 100 Judging Tickets will be available to members of the public, who will also help choose the winning chef/restaurant. But you can still feast–just show up and buy one of Mamie Taylor’s Rib Platters for $15.

Inspired by the Canadian national motto – A Mari Usque Ad Mare (Sea to Sea) – this complex cocktail is a contemporary twist on the classic Vieux Carré cocktail. It’s a blend of rum, whisky, sweet vermouth and bitters made from sour cherries and Haskap berries from the Okanagan.
