There are few things as comforting as a freshly-bake slice of pie. Whether it’s the crumbly crust of a savoury pot pie or the sweet meringue piled high on top of your lemon variety – pies have a way of bringing most people straight to their happy place.

Aside from boasting a killer pumpkin pie, this cafe has a pie happy hour from 2 to 4 pm every weekday. With daily fruit, nut, and custard pies available, Acme is a must-hit for dessert.

2. Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe & Pie Shop

This packed cafe is a longstanding local favourite, and serves up some memorable (and big!) slices of pie. Standouts are their Chocolate Banana Cream Pie and their Raspberry Rhubarb Pie. Aprhrodite’s is also known for their vegan and gluten-free pies, too.

3. Black Rook Bakehouse

Black Rook Bakehouse is a bakery cafe and neighbourhood favourite. Pastry-cased delicacies of note include their Coconut Cream, Chocolate Brownie Cream Pie, and Beef Brisket Pot Pie, and, if you’re willing to take the liberty with what’s considered pie, their quiches are tasty, too.

5. Her Majesty’s Pie Company

Her Majesty’s doesn’t have its own home base, but you can still grab its delicious creations at farmers markets in Vancouver during the warmer months, or order online year-round. With all the classic fruity flavours and varieties like Chocolate Pecan Ganache on it’s menu, Her Majesty’s is a great place to buy a pie or two.

6. Lime & Moon Pie Company

Lime & Moon Pie Company is a small-batch bakehouse in Yaletown originally hailing from Bowen Island. Continuing with its organic approach, Lime & Moon’s menu features both sweet and savoury pies, including Lemon-Lime Meringue, Sinfully Sweet Peach, Strawberry Rhubarb Fields Forever, Blueberry Patch, and the French-Canadian classic Tourtière. West Vancouver’s Savary Island Pie Company is to many the gold standard of local pie making. It could also be homegrown star Ryan Reynolds’ favourite go-to spot for pie. They are known for their Chicken Pot Pie (and its zingier curry version), as well as their sweet fruit pies.

11. The Last Crumb Bakery & Cafe

This Main Street bakehouse changes their pie list daily but always offers their famous “Peanut Butter” pie. Here is a sample of what The Last Crumb might have in store when you drop by, Chocolate Banana Cream, White Chocolate Coconut Cream, Butterscotch, and Seasonal Fruit hand-sized pies. Yum!

12. The Pie Hole

Vancouver first got to know Jenell Parsons and her delicious pies just a few years ago through the Make It Market and other local events. Though The Pie Hole doesn’t have a retail storefront you can order for pick up – yet – their pies are available at a variety of places around town. Their savoury pie list includes the popular Bacon Cheeseburger Pie and Mac and Cheese Pie, and their sweet list has options like Maple French Toast Bacon Pie or their celebrated Fat Elvis, along with more traditional fruit and cream selections.

The pies at this petite Chinatown bakeshop are sure to catch your eye, while at the same time get your stomach rumbling. The Pie Shoppe is a great spot to enjoy a slice of pie, which has been made with love and local fruit and ingredients from BC, along with a coffee. Rotating pie flavours are available and change with the season. The classics stay on the menu year-round and include apple and chocolate pecan.

14. The Smallflower Cafe & Bakery

Gastown’s Smallflower Cafe & Bakery prepares a feature pie and an array of fruit tarts fresh daily. Always gluten-free and vegan, Smallflower switches up its pie flavours regularly. Customers can expect to find crust cradled beauties like the popular banana cream pie. The West Hastings bakery also sells frozen pie crusts. With a base of sorghum, millet, and rice flour you would never know it was gluten-free or vegan.
