The Toronto Police Service is warning the public of a series of street robberies taking place in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area.

According to police, since January 17, 2018, there have been 11 street robberies reported in the area.

Police say that these incidents are mostly swarming-type robberies involving teenagers, where a group of people approach a victim and demand personal property including cell phones, clothing, and money.

In a number of these incidents, an edged weapon has been produced during the demands.

Police are now warning those in the area to remain vigilant and to contact the police if they witness or are a victim of a street robbery.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact police at 416-808-5200, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
