Following a ‘dangerously hot’ weekend in Toronto, the city remains under a heat warning today.

According to Environment Canada, Toronto can expect hot and humid conditions Monday afternoon, with high temperatures expected to reach the low thirties with peak humidex values near 40° C.

By Monday evening, a cold front will cross Southern Ontario, putting an end to the heat event.

Besides the heat, Environment Canada is forecasting showers beginning early this afternoon, along with it a risk of a thunderstorm.

With today’s weather alert, Environment Canada also advised the public that extreme heat affects everyone, especially young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

During periods of extreme heat, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

And don’t forget your sunscreen!
