Following a very hot and humid Monday, Toronto remains under a heat warning today.

According to Environment Canada, a hot and humid airmass is expected to remain in place through Wednesday.

The weather agency says maximum afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 31°C degrees with humidex values near 40°C degrees.

Overnight low temperatures tonight will be in the low twenties providing Toronto little relief from the heat.

However, a much-needed cold front will move through late Wednesday bringing an end to the heat event.

Environment Canada is reminding the public that the risks of heat events are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
