FEATURED ON THE LISTED GUIDE
It’s 420 this week.
Of course, we didn’t need to tell the dispensary regulars, the Netflix tokers and or those with a perpetual case of the munchies that. Well, maybe they did need a reminder.
Anyway, with last week’s pot legalization ruling, you have another dope reason to skip out of the office a little early this Thursday to celebrate.
Here are 7 Toronto 420 events you can hit up.
420 Toronto 2017
What: Yonge-Dundas Square will go up in smoke as stoners of all ages and backgrounds unite for the love of weed. You can expect to find no shortage of stoner-inspired stimulation, like vendors, speakers (including the “Prince of Pot,” Marc Emery) and food trucks to satisfy both your sweet and savoury cravings (we’re talking about Smoke’s Poutinerie and Stax Baking Co.). Stay until 4:20, and you’ll get to join thousands of fellow potheads in the ceremonial blazing of a massive joint.
When: Thursday, April 20, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Where: Yonge-Dundas Square
Toronto Green Market 420 Block Party
What: If you’d rather fly under the radar in all of your THC-filled glory, you may want to opt for the Toronto Green Market. The all-day gathering – held at a top-secret location – allows you to spend the day sampling some 30 craft cannabis products, including vaporizers, “Medibles” and other weed paraphernalia. There will be all kinds of entertainment throughout the day, including performances by comedian Lucy Gervais, Deejay NDN of A Tribe Called Red, Brass Vixens and Goddess Factory Twerk Squad.
When: Thursday, April 20, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Where: Top-secret
Yongesterdam at Med Café
What: Blaze up as you would in Amsterdam at Med Café this 420. The cannabis hot spot (which is still sort of a secret for the city’s stoner set) will open its doors for an Amsterdam-inspired evening. Party perks include access to an all-you-can-dab bar, THC-infused cotton candy (which may just be reason enough to stop by) and discounted strains. Tickets – which are $50 in advance or $60 at the door – also get you two edibles and a raffle ticket for $200 in prizes. RSVP at [email protected].
When: Thursday, April 20, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Where: Med Café, 529 Yonge Street
Hotbox Café’s 420 Party
What: If there’s ever an appropriate time to hit up the marijuana smoke-filled streets of Kensington Market its on 420. The neighbourhood’s longtime stoner haven, Hotbox Café returns with its 14 annual party to mark the occasion. In addition to stoner banter with regulars, you can expect live music, DJs, comedic entertainment and competitions in rolling, dabbing and bong clearing (you may want to start practicing).
When: Thursday, April 20, 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Where: Hotbox Café, 204 Augusta Avenue
Tokyo Smoke
What: If a more refined 420 experience is what your heart desires, you can hit Tokyo Smoke to share the nice green buzz you’ve got going with Toronto’s young professional set of weed smokers. On Thursday, April 20 stop by Tokyo Smoke locations from open to close to score some free coffee and It’s Lit papers (which include filters and a special magnetic closure) as you browse their creative cannabis products.
When: Thursday, April 20, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
Where: 850b Adelaide Street West and 874 College Street
Ganja Yoga Class
What: There are always a few THC-filled guests at your local yoga studio, whether you realize it or not. In fact, some swear by a little pre-yoga blaze session. Immediately following passing the dutchie to the left-hand side on 420, you can hit The House of Yoga to mark 420 with a little high yoga.
When: Thursday, April 20, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Where: The House of Yoga, 714 Bloor Street West
Trinity Bellwoods
What: Though there isn’t an official gathering at Trinity Bellwoods, you can expect to smell no shortage of marijuana smoke from everyone’s favourite west-end park. The good news is that it’s just a short walk away from some of Queen West’s most popular dispensaries, like Zen Zoo and Eden (because mooching for bud in the park is never a good look).
When: Thursday, April 20, all day and evening
Where: Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen Street West
