Sweet Hart Kitchen specializes in delectable desserts, which – aside from being oh so Instagram-worthy – are also entirely plant-based (AKA 100% vegan).
Owner and dessert-maker Alexandra Courts has been in business since 2016 offering wholesale and custom orders, and participating in food festivals like the Toronto Veg Fest, Gluten-Free Garage, Vegan Food and Drink Festival, and The Toronto Baker’s Market.
Now partnering with fellow plant-based baker Julia Hart (just look at that last name… talk about kismet), Sweet Hart Kitchen is set to open its first-ever storefront.
Taking over the address of short-lived espresso bar The Strong One in Kensington Market, the new retail outlet is hoping to open in early April.
Once operational, Sweet Hart’s well-established range of plant-based, gluten-free, raw/no-bake treats will finally be available any time the craving strikes.
Look forward to bite-sized treats, cakes, squares, raw truffles, and heart-shaped ice cream sandwiches, as well as soon-to-be-introduced breakfast options like overnight oats, chia puddings, avocado mousses, and muffins, AND an expanded selection of savouries including galettes, mini loaves and sandwiches.
In advance of its opening, Sweet Hart Kitchen has kicked off a crowdfunding campaign in order to help with start-up costs and meet its growing demand.
Pledges from just $10 will be awarded a “snickers” bar or salted caramel pecan brownie, so not only is this an investment in a new local business, but future you will also benefit with baked goods.
