Mac & Cheese might just be the ultimate Canadian comfort food.

The classic dish, often dubbed “Dinner,” is a staple in home kitchens and on menus at diners, pubs, and even fine dining establishments across Canada.

Here in Toronto, the beloved combination of elbow noodles and cheese sauce is good cause to celebrate.

Newly renamed, The Black Diamond Mac and Cheese Festival, the wildly popular weekend event is back for its third year and set to take over Ontario Place from June 2 to 4.

Admission will be free (tickets are available online and grant early entrance) for the weekend featuring over 50 variations of mac and cheese on offer as chefs compete for a chance to win a $5,000 cash prize.

Aside from eating, this year’s festival promises a relaxing lounge and trackless train touring Ontario Place, as well as, an all-cheese marketplace, craft brewers, wine makers, carnival games, marshmallow fire pits, a gaming zone, and live entertainment on site.
