We warned you this could happen.
After 73 years, Toronto has a new record for hottest temperature on September 5th. Back in 1945, the thermostat hit a scorching 31.7°C, but today, already by 1 pm, temperatures at Pearson Airport had reached a sweltering 32.1°C.
And that number will likely only go even higher as we head into the late afternoon.
According to Environment Canada, the humidex value is currently sitting at a stifling 41°C.
A chance of showers late this evening and overnight thunderstorms should cool things down in the city with a high of 25°C expected for Thursday and a humidex value a full ten degrees lower at 32°C.
Stay cool out there today, Toronto.
