Today’s extreme cold weather is taking a toll on some of the city’s holiday celebrations.

Holiday Fair in the Square has decided not to run on Wednesday due to the cold weather.

According to Environment Canada, as of 9 am, it was already -11.4°C and -20°C with windchill in Toronto.

Tonight, however, is aiming to be one of the coldest nights of the year with a projected low of -18°C and a windchill factor that leaves the city feeling more like -27°C.

The holiday fair is expected to reopen on Thursday at 4 pm, and runs until December 23.

For those looking to brave the cold, however, the Toronto Christmas Market is remaining open today.
