Toronto getting a new Nashville Hot Chicken take-out counter

Jan 10 2018, 5:02 am

Good news for fried chicken aficionados in Toronto, Five Points: Nashville Hot Chicken, a take-out counter from the folks behind Village Pizza is coming soon to Bloorcourt.

To be located inside a new bar called Open House (taking over the former address of The Steady), the new fried chicken dealer draws inspiration from Tennessee institutions like Hattie B’s and Prince’s Hot Chicken but will offer a more streamlined menu.

While an opening date has yet to be announced, Torontonians can start salivating over a choice of chicken legs, breasts, wings, or tenders tossed in a fiery red sauce that’s amped up to spice levels as specified (mild to extra hot) and loaded into baskets or onto sliced white bread with sweet pickles.

Accompanying the spicy chicken, look forward to a range of Southern-style sides on offer too, including the potential for crinkle-cut fries that are frozen but authentic to the genre.
