Oregon reports more than 700 new coronavirus cases over the weekend

The Oregon Health Authority confirmed 765 new known cases of COVID-19, along with four additional virus-related deaths over the weekend

At the time of writing, the total number of known cases in Oregon sits at 42,101 with 653 deaths.

“Oregon’s 653rd COVID-19 death is a 75-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive on Sept. 28 and died on Oct. 22, at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions,” reads the OHA update.

On Friday, the OHA reported its highest-ever single number of new coronavirus cases in the state. ““Today’s case count is again a reminder that Oregonians cannot let their guards down,” read the report. “OHA published new face-covering guidance this week, which requires people to consistently wear face coverings while indoors, at their workplace, and in places where they will be in contact with people from outside their household.
