A powerful winter storm is headed for southern Quebec.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall and winter storm warnings for over 30 regions of the province.

The Eastern Townships are expected to receive 20 cm of snow today.

Quebec City will not see as much snow but a storm surge warning is in effect for Bellechasse, Côte-de-Beaupré – L’Île d’Orléans and Lévis. Blowing snow and wind up to 60 kilometres per hour are expected for this afternoon.

Sûreté du Québec have also issued a weather warning advising drivers to take precaution on the roads.

“Road conditions are currently perilous and will deteriorate in the next few hours, in several regions of Quebec,” said Sûreté du Québec in a statement on Facebook. “Caution and vigilance are in place. Adapt your behaviour to weather and road conditions.”
