A woman who was caught on camera making racist remarks against a group of men in a Alberta Denny’s restaurant and subsequently fired from her job as a result, has since been re-hired, according to the Calgary Herald.

The woman, identified as Kelly Pocha, is a resident of Cranbrook, BC, who got into an argument with a group of men at a Denny’s in Lethbridge, Alberta, earlier this year.

One of the men filmed the altercation and posted it to Facebook, where it then went viral.

Pocha can be heard saying remarks such as “go back to your country,” and “speak English or don’t speak at all,” in the video before being escorted away from the men’s booth by the restaurant manager.

Pocha was an employee of Cranbrook Dodge, which announced via Facebook that she was let go from her position, not long after the incident.

At the time, the business said that it had “become aware of a disturbing video that involves one of our employees,” and was “deeply concerned” about video’s content.

“We… want all of our friends, families, colleagues, and customers to know that this behaviour does not reflect the values of Cranbrook Dodge in any way,” the statement said.

Cranbrook Dodge also said the employee in question had been terminated and “we deeply apologize for her actions.”

Shortly after the incident, Pocha herself also made a statement to CTV Lethbridge, saying that she was sorry for her remarks, though included that people weren’t seeing her side of the story.

“Yes, my backlash was inappropriate and racial, but I was merely standing up for myself as I was being disrespected that night,” she said in the statement.

“I would like to formally apologize to these men, as I did to the staff and management at Denny’s in Lethbridge two weeks ago, for my actions. I am human, and I make mistakes.”

She also stated that she would be seeking professional help to ensure that a similar incident does not occur in the future.
