It was a renovation four years in the making, but as of this morning, the West Eau Claire Park is finally and officially open to the public.

The grand opening ceremony took place today at 10:30 am, and although it was a little wet, crowds still gathered to check out the new park.

Sitting on the south side of the Peace River Bridge and beside the Bow River, the park has flood prevention systems built into the aesthetically pleasing layout.

Bike paths and walkways have also been incorporated into the park, making pedestrian transportation safer than it had been before the renovations.

One of the main attractions of the park is the Delta Gardens, which incorporates public art throughout the green space, including thousands of brass survey monuments that create a glittering effect.

We’ve collected a few of our favourite photos of the new part for you to check out, though we’d highly suggest heading over there sometime soon to see it for yourself!
