When is a pancake not just a pancake? When it’s dished up as part of the Calgary Stampede’s epic annual roster of Pancake Breakfasts is when.

So how can a pancake breakfast stand out from the crowd? It’s possible, when you serve it up with a twist. If you are one or more of the following, take note: Vegan, a dog owner, creative, health-conscious, a Caesar lover, tired of pancakes.

Here are eight unique pancake breakfasts to check out during the 2017 Calgary Stampede.

1. Raw Canvas

You’re the driver for this pancake breakfast, because you’re bringing your most creative pancake design. They’ll make the pancake, aka your canvas, and then you put toppings on it. The best pancake created wins a free class to Raw Canvas’ black light event, or cooking class.

When: July 7, 7 to 11 am
Where: Raw Canvas – 1130 Kensington Road

2. Wendy T’s Gluten Free Stampede Pancake Breakfast

The name says it all. If you can’t eat gluten and all these pancake breakfasts are driving you nuts, this is the one for you. Sponsors include Kinnikinnick Foods, Spolumbo’s, Judy G, and Community Natural Foods.

When: July 8, 9 to 11 am
Where: Marda Loop Community Hall – 3130 – 16th Street SW

Where: The Bridgeland Riverside Community Association – 917 Centre Avenue NE

4. 21st Annual Ismaili Muslim Stampede Breakfast

Enjoy a unique menu with traditional barazi (pigeon peas/gungo peas cooked in coconut milk) and fan favorites scrambled eggs and pancakes. There will also be live entertainment, some “midway” games for the kids and see an award winning Stampede Parade float.

When: Saturday, July 8 from 7:30 to 11 am
Where: The Ismaili Muslim Jamatkhana and Centre – 1128 45th Avenue NE

5. 5th Annual Puppy Pancake Day

Pancake Breakfasts have gone to the dogs! This is the one for your four-legged friend. Pet Store & Bakery’s Bowness store is hosting a Puppy Pancake Brunch for dogs.

Where: 1312 12 Avenue SW

7. Amber Approved Stampede Breakfast 2017
