From unicorn eats to plenty of pickles, this year’s eats are once again pushing the boundaries of flavour, texture, and colour. Look for Mexican-style corn on the cob slathered in Flamin’ Cheeto dust, Cotton Candy spun with maple walnut, deep fried Jell-o, poutine loaded with clam chowder, and oh so very much more. Lots of deep fried stuff, and lots (and lots) of spice.
Here are the 40 new foods you have to try at the Calgary Stampede Midway this year:
A huge hunk of ice cream sandwiched between marshmallow cereal bars. Don’t be scared!
Pick a fight with this tough guy: Breaded chicken breast, dressed with chipotle aioli and sweet & sour sauce, layered with crunchy coleslaw in a warm, soft brioche bun.
Deep fried balls are smothered in butter chicken sauce, sprinkled with fresh cilantro and topped with a candy coated anise.
Family Freezed’s decadent white hot chocolate – surrounded in rainbow sour poppers, sprinkles, sugary stars, a ribbon rainbow tail, and blanketed with a fluffy cotton candy cloud. Magical powers not included. Or are they?
Hop on down to check out a thin crust flatbread pizza topped with locally sourced and sustainably grown slow roasted pulled rabbit, drizzled with organic dark honey over a layer of mouthwatering toppings.
