Here are the city services that are open or closed this Victoria Day

Victoria Day Monday is right around the corner, and the City of Calgary is making a few adjustments for the long weekend.

A few city services will be closed during the holiday, while others will be open for shortened hours.

Check our list to make sure that you won’t have any unpleasant surprises as you head out for the long weekend.

Transit

All downtown CTrains will be closed for scheduled maintenance for the long weekend from May 19 to 21, with the Red Line being closed from Sunnyside to Victoria Park-Stampede and the Blue Line from Sunalta to Bridgeland-Memorial station.

There will be shuttle buses in operation to replace CTrain service between these stations.

Parking

On-street parking will be free for Calgary drivers on Monday, May 21. Holiday rates will be charged at select parkades and surface lots in the city.

What’s open

East Calgary city landfill will be open all weekend, Spyhill will be open only on Sunday, May 20, and Shepard landfill will be closed the entire weekend.

Southland and Village Square Leisure Centres will both be open from 11 am to 5 pm on Monday, May 21, and regular admission rates will apply.

Free compost is being given away at the Calgary Composting Facility between 9 am and 3 pm on Saturday, May 19.

What’s closed

All City of Calgary administration buildings will be closed on Monday, May 21.

All athletic parks, golf courses, and the North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed on Victoria Day as well.
