With fall upon us, fitness is on the top of many minds, especially after a summer of indulgence. It’s time to get healthy again before many of us pack on the holiday weight in December – even though we all swear it won’t happen this year. We’ve teamed up with the YMCA to offer one lucky Daily Hive reader a three month membership to they Y.
While we can only pick one reader, everyone should still get out there and get active. And to help with that, YMCA has a special offer in September – if you join this month, they’ll waive their joiner fee.
The YMCA is not your typical fitness centre, it’s a community centre, and you won’t feel out of place or uncomfortable when working out; the level of machismo is at very low and tolerable levels.
Their Health and Fitness programs provide options for people of all ages and stages in their fitness routine, whether they are just beginning or already regularly active
To enter to get a three month YMCA membership, do the following:
1. Tweet the following on Twitter: (1 entry)
2. Like YMCA Vancouver on Facebook. Leave a comment below telling us once you’ve done so. (1 entry)
Contest entries will be accepted from time and date of publishing until noon PDT on September 28, 2016. One winner will be chosen at random and contacted through the platform they enter by.
Their fitness centres feature modern equipment and amenities to make your workout as convenient and comfortable as possible. From personal training and individual workouts to group fitness classes, their friendly and approachable staff and volunteers are there to support you on your journey to better health.
Improve your fitness in a motivating group of your peers. They offer classes for individuals of all fitness abilities. You’ll have fun while a certified YMCA instructor guides you and your group to better health.
Through swim lessons, aquatic fitness classes, and other programs, YMCA Aquatics offers you and your family many ways to make a splash. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced swimmer, you can gain the skills and confidence you need to stay safe and enjoy the pool.
If lifting weights and workout classes are not your thing, there are other ways to stay in shape. Play your favourite sports and games or learn something new. Basketball, volleyball, martial arts, badminton, and more, most Ys offer something for everyone.
Dealing with health challenges can be tough. YMCA Health Management programs empower you to actively manage your health concern or chronic condition, and be proactive with your health.
Naturally, the food you eat plays an important role in how you feel. YMCA programs and services will help you learn how to make sustainable food choices and learn healthy preparation and eating habits.
