A new giant art installation at the Woodward’s Atrium might go unnoticed unless you look down.

A giant, colourful 25 foot by 25 foot map of Vancouver now covers the circular concrete area of the public space. Artist Marcus Hynes created the map for POP (Power Of Placemaking) Crawl, which runs until Saturday.

POP Crawl is meant to allow Vancouverites to discover the city’s public spaces. And all the places listed on the POP Crawl passport (that can be picked up at any POP Crawl space) will feature a surprise of some sort.

Guess we spoiled this one, but it’s still pretty darn cool.

Most of the sites on the POP Crawl are activated from 5 to 8 pm, but this one can be enjoyed all day until at least September 18. The stairs in the Atrium provide a lovely bird’s-eye-view of the piece.

Hynes also has 30 limited edition 20×20 inch prints available for purchase, just in case you want to show your love for Vancouver in your living room.
