A winter storm warning has been issued for the Sea to Sky highway, as well as Whistler.

Environment Canada warns of hazardous winter conditions, due to a Pacific frontal system that’s bringing a messy mixture of wet snow and heavy rainfall.

Near Squamish, expect conditions to switch between wet snow and heavy rainfall. Up to 15 cm of snowfall is expected, followed by more than 50 mm of rainfall before Thursday afternoon.

In Whistler, snow will become heavy, with more than 30 cm expected before changing to rain.

Those along the Sea to Sky highway should expect a heavy accumulation of snowfall tonight. The snow will transition to heavy rain overnight and throughout Thursday.

If driving, prepare for challenging and deteriorating travel conditions.
