Strap on your running shoes, it’s time to raise some money for cancer research!
The Daffodil Dash will be returning to Vancouver at the end of the month, for its third annual walk/run beginning at Creekside Park.
Both the walk and the run will take place along Vancouver’s sea wall, and there will be a warm up led by Innovative Fitness.
Funds from the Daffodil Dash go towards life-saving cancer research and support for those living with the disease—a cause that is more important than ever, as a 40% increase in cancer cases is expected by 2030, due Canada’s aging population.
“This year, the lives of over 200,000 Canadians and their families will change when they hear the words ‘you have cancer,'” said Rachael Zapp, Annual Giving Coordinator, in a press release. “Funds raised through Daffodil Dash support research and support services for cancer patients and their families right here in Vancouver.”
One lucky Daily Hive reader get to be a part of all the activities, music, and prizes by winning a package that includes admission to the event, a $50 gift card to RYU, and $25 for shoes.
The run begins at 9 am with a warm up, and then a children’s’ mini-dash will take place before the main one kilometre walk and five kilometre run.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in yellow, and anyone who raises over $150 will receive a free pair of daffodil compression socks. The company that makes the socks, Your City Sports, matches every order with a donated pair to a local homeless shelter.
