Is summer really complete without a music festival or two? We think not. Lucky for Vancouverites, Westward Music Festival is back for four days of energetic live music performances from some of the world’s best.
From September 13 to 16, the second-annual festival will be taking over downtown Vancouver with concerts led by artists like British singer-songwriter, composer, and producer, Blood Orange, two-time Grammy-nominee Kali Uchis, critically-acclaimed pop star Kelela, and YouTube sensation Poppy.
And it’s even more enjoyable than your typical camping festival since you’re not going to be dancing around a muddy field. Instead, you can vibe with to the music at venues like the Vogue Theatre, Fox Cabaret, Rio Theatre, Fortune Sound Club, Biltmore Cabaret, Orpheum Theatre, and more.
“The MRG Concerts team and I are very much looking forward to the 2018 edition of Westward. Due to the incredible support from Vancouver over the past year, we have been able to grow the festival to include more shows and venues, all while keeping with our mission to provide the city’s music fans the memorable experiences they are looking for,” Matt Gibbons, president/founder of MRG Music Group said in a press release.
Additional acts confirmed to-date include alt-indie artist Angel Olsen, R&B downtempo soul act RHYE, electronic duo HONNE, Canadian Sub-Pop punk band METZ, Seattle grunge mainstays Mudhoney, Vancouver favourites Odds, and Indigenous synth-rock band Nehiyawak.
Pre-sale tickets for Westward Music Festival go on sale today (February 7) via WestwardFest, TicketFly, and in person at Red Cat Records’ stores in Vancouver. Meanwhile, general ticket sales open on Tuesday, February 13.
