This ramen spot could be Metro Vancouver's undisputed Japanese food champion

If you’ve been searching for the perfect bowl of Japanese noodles, you need to try Yaguchiya Ramen.

Metro Vancouver is home to a plethora of ramen joints, but this one is as authentic as they get. Yaguchiya Ramen first opened in Yokohama, Japan in 1994. It then became the first Japanese owned and operated ramen restaurant to open up in the Metrotown area.

And now its Burnaby restaurant is celebrating its one-year anniversary!

Take your pick from classics (in generous portion sizes) like Shio, Miso, Spicy, and Shoyu. If you’re not a meat-eater, they have a fantastic vegan option as well.

You can even take your meal to the next level by adding toppings like shredded leeks, spinach, sweet corn, pork belly, or kimchi. Who doesn’t love a ton of options?

And since it’s the restaurant’s first anniversary, they’re offering up a special ramen for just $8.91 from May 4 to 13. That’s right, and it comes with these badass toppings; chashu, seaweed, bean sprouts, chives, and lettuce.

Fun fact: In Japanese, the sound of the first syllable for 891 is “Ya Gu Chi”, also the name of the owner, Yaguchi.

This is not your typical ramen spot because the menu is packed full of different kinds of tasty Asian fare.

If you’re looking for something other than a standard (but delicious) bowl of ramen, Yaguchiya’s got gyoza, an amazing Tuna Bowl, a Chashu Bowl, and a must-try Kakuni Bowl.

You can also snap up five-piece gyoza for just $3.50 from May 4 to 13. Share them with someone you love or eat them all yourself, there’s no judgment here.

The soft Yaguchiya Bun with braised pork belly costs just $3.95, and it’s so good you might want to order a second ahead of time (just saying).

Naturally, you’re going to want to end your visit on a sweet note. Matcha vegan pudding or ice cream? It’s a tough choice, but follow your heart (or stomach) and you’ll never go wrong.
