This will make any book lover’s heart ache.

More than 1,000 books, DVDs and CDs were damaged in a flood at the Vancouver Public Library after the sprinklers went off at 5:30 am Friday after Supergirl had wrapped filming in the atrium

That is, however, out of a total of 1.2 million items in the library’s collection.

A dollar value hasn’t been assigned to the damaged goods, but Marya Gadison with the VPL tells Daily Hive in an email that it will all be covered by insurance.

The main areas affected by the flood are the atrium, three meeting rooms and public bathrooms on the lower level, as well as an exhibit space and some adjacent sections. Drywall, flooring, electrical equipment, and lighting were all damaged.

Gadison says the library will continue to be open, with just one area of the children’s collection staying closed.

There’s no word yet on what caused the sprinklers to go off, but an investigation is currently underway.
