Vancouver Police are investigating after a man tried to lure a 10-year-old boy into his vehicle in an attempt to abduct the child.

Around 3:20 pm on Thursday, the boy was walking near Blake Street and Garibaldi Drive in the Champlain Heights neighbourhood in Southeast Vancouver when the man approached him driving a silver Dodge vehicle.

The driver tried to lure the boy into the vehicle with the promise of candy but the boy ran away and connected with a group of friends while the vehicle quickly left the area.

Police are seeking the public’s help in looking for a silver Dodge, possibly a minivan, with:

  • Heavily tinted windows
  • Damage on the front end
  • Black electrical tape on the rear cargo door
  • Roof racks with tie-down cords
  • Black wheels

The driver was described as a caucasian man wearing all-dark clothing, a black toque, and a grey and black bandana partially covering his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police at 604-717-0601 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
