Vancouver Mural Festival announces artists for massive new outdoor concert

The third annual Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF) is slated to become even bigger with a new music event that concludes the week-long summertime festival.

Organizers of the festival have partnered with Live Nation Canada to stage a major outdoor ‘Celebration Concert’ event, now dubbed The Park Show, on the festival’s final day – Saturday, August 11.

And this morning, Live Nation announced some of the acts that would be taking the stage, as well as ticket prices.

Performing at the event will include, among others, A Tribe Called Red, Charlotte Day Wilson, and guests.

Tickets for the concert will start at $30, with the option of 4-pack tickets for $100 and go on sale Friday, July 6 at 10 am. They can be bought online, or at Red Cat Records in Vancouver.

In line with the Vancouver Mural Festival’s ongoing celebration of diversity, Live Nation Canada has curated The Park Show as a family-friendly event with a focus on inclusiveness and as a reflection of the surrounding community.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the creation of this event,” said Live Nation Canada Festival Promoter Ryan Balaski. “Our office has been located in the Mount Pleasant area for more than a decade and as such we are invested in cultivating the art and culture of the local community.”

Bringing together local artists that celebrate our shared vision with the Mural Festival is not only great for the area, he added, “but the city as a whole.”

The concert will have a capacity for 5,500 people and feature both local artists and international talent, with pop, hip-hop, and world music.

The venue will be open from noon to 9:30 pm. An afternoon program between noon and 5 pm will feature arts programming and other activities while the concert program will be held in the evening from 6 pm to 9:30 pm

Now in its third year, Vancouver Mural Festival has quickly grown to become one of the Lower Mainland’s most popular cultural events.

Last year’s VMF selected 55 local and international artists to design and paint their murals on commercial buildings and parking spots in Mount Pleasant. Most of the event is held within the laneways and includes food trucks, live music, and skateboard performances.

The 2018 Vancouver Mural Festival is scheduled August 6 to 11.
