Vancouver man dies after accidentally shooting himself at pistol competition

A 50-year-old Vancouver man has died after accidentally shooting himself at a pistol competition in Kamloops on Sunday.

According to Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, authorities were called to the Kamloops Target Sports Association range at approximately 1 pm.

“He accidentally discharged the pistol,” Shelkie told Daily Hive.

“There were many witnesses and people watching the competition. People came to his aid immediately to administer first aid.”

The man was taken to hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries soon after.
