For the eighth consecutive year, Vancouver International Airport was voted the best airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

The awards are considered the global benchmark for airport excellence.

YVR is the first and only airport to receive this award for eight years in a row; it also placed in the top three for best airport staff service in North America.

“This impressive accomplishment is shared with the 23,000 people who work and volunteer at YVR as well as our amazing community, passengers and partners,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority.

“I am so proud of the YVR team for breaking our own record of most consecutive wins. This is particularly meaningful this year as we saw 22.3 million passengers come through our terminal—two million additional passengers from the year before.”

More than 13.8 million passengers were surveyed in 550 airports around the world about their airport travel experience.

The survey took into account 39 criteria, including check-in, border clearance processes, comfort, efficiency, signage, passenger amenities, and friendliness.

To celebrate this accomplishment, YVR will be giving away eight free flights to any North American destination of your choice over the next eight days. For details, visit yvr.ca and follow YVR Airport on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
