Summer rolls on and so do the laughs! Improv, stand-up, and a musical – here is our list of five comedy events to check out in Vancouver this week.

English Baywatch

Grad School Improv

  • What: Grad School Improv’s latest show features sexy red bathing suits, tense lifeguard drama, and slow-motion running down the sands of English Bay. Afterwards, stick around for the beach party at Little Mountain Gallery, with dancing, drinks and beach attire.

Richard Lett

  • What: A recent recipient of the Lead Actor Award at the LA WebFest for his starring role in the webSeries Pay Up, Richard Lett is also an internationally touring headliner stand-up comedian for 25 years. He has worked with Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and more.

Improv X Underground Vancouver with special guest Aaron Chapman

  • What: The Fictionals and author Aaron Chapman team-up for Improv X Underground Vancouver. Come learn and laugh about Vancouver after-dark from the author of The Last Gang in Town, Liquor, Lust, and The Law, and Live at the Commodore.

Fox Hole Comedy

  • What: Stand-up comedy every Wednesday in the Projection Room, upstairs at the Fox Cabaret. Featuring a different lineup of comics and headliners each week.

Voices: A Musical Improv

  • What: Voices is a one-woman improvised musical performed by Jennifer Pielak, co-directed by Alison Chisholm, with piano by Peter Abando. Inspired by the many voices we all have in our heads, Jennifer will be pulling inspiration from the audience to create the characters. Followed by a post-show artist talk-back.
  • When: August 24
