Construction for UNIQLO’s large two-level store space within Metropolis at Metrotown is now underway, and with the opening just a few months away the company is turning its attention to filling in-store positions.

Four job fair sessions over four days will be held at the nearby Hilton Vancouver Metrotown hotel next week.

Positions that need to be filled include both part-time and full-time associates, with health benefits.

The 20,000 sq. ft. location, occupying a space that includes the former Home Outfitters store, is slated to open this fall and will be Metro Vancouver’s first UNIQLO store.

It will also be Canada’s third location after last year’s two store openings in Toronto.

A spokesperson for UNIQLO was not able to tell Daily Hive the precise number of positions that need to be filled, however, based on the square footage and expected sales volume there will likely be more than 100 jobs open.

A flagship store is also anticipated to open in downtown Vancouver within the next two years, but a location has not been made public.

There is speculation that the store will be located within a new three-storey retail building approved for the site of the Pacific Centre rotunda at the northeast corner of Howe Street and West Georgia Street.

MUJI, another major Japanese retailer, will also be making its first entry into the region with stores opening on Robson Street, replacing the now-closed Gap store, and Metrotown late this year.
