UBC is hosting an underwear run and dance party this weekend

A giant underwear run and dance party is set to take place at the University of British Columbia (UBC) this Saturday, April 14.

The event is being hosted by Party4Health – coming off the success of their recent bike rave – in conjunction with the UBC Ski and Board Club.

Last year’s Undie Run featured a short jog through the library, culminating in an epic fountain party powered by a giant boombox.

Hundreds of students stripped down, donated their clothing, and participated in the mayhem.

“For the first time ever, we’re going to have an actual dance party in UBC’s main library, during exams,” said Jacques Martiquet, founder of Party4Health.

Martiquet said the Undie run “has always been an excellent study break” for students to recharge after hitting the books for a week straight.

“Dancing in your underwear, socializing, and exercising, fits the definition of a healthy party break,” he added.

Organizers said the event will include a facilitated warm up to I’m Sexy and I Know It by LMFAOfollowed by mobile underwear dance party through a parkade, a library, and a student residence.

For those attending, organizers have offered a few tips:

  • Show up at 9:30 pm to the atrium wearing clothes that you wish to donate to a local charity (feel free to bring as much extra as you want)
  • Strip down (please leave your underwear on) and place all the clothes you wish to donate in the pile.
  • Get your stretch on before the event starts at 10 pm sharp
