Cover yourself with colourful powder and party at UBC's HOLI festival

Mar 10 2017, 1:20 am

Dance around, cover yourself with colourful powder, and play with water guns at this year’s UBC HOLI festival on March 18.

Taking place on the UBC campus, the event will run from 11 am to 3 pm.

The anticipated festival is celebrating equality with colours and UBC’s Indian Students Association wants you to be a part of it. Come to the event dressed in all white and have a ton of fun.

The Hindu festival which marks the coming of spring, Holi, is celebrated in Northern India on the last full moon of the month. It’s observed on March 13 of this year which means this UBC event is occurring shortly after. It will be the Association’s last event of the year.

Acclaimed Bollywood music maker, DJ Khanvict from Decibel Entertainment will be spinning his favourite tracks throughout the day to celebrate Holi and keep you dancing.

The event will feature scrumptious Indian food stalls so you can also enjoy the aromas and flavourful food on offer. Then you can jump in the photo booth to get a few photos with your powder-covered friends.

Don’t worry about dashing to buy powder before the event because the festival organizers will have some on site that you can buy. Just remember to bring cash to buy them – it’s recommended that you arrive early so you can get them on time.

General admission is free and you can buy a $25 pass for the UBC HOLI after party.  It’s taking place at UBC’s Pit Pub – buying the pass allows you to skip the lines and get a patiala peg (whiskey cocktail) upon entry. The event will be happening rain or shine.
