Previously the house brand of tea at Urban Tea Merchant, and carried at other retailers like the nearby Bel Café in downtown Vancouver, TWG Tea and its iconic, vibrant packaging is likely familiar to many tea lovers, though this marks a wholly new venture for TWG Tea.
The TWG Tea Salon & Boutique will be operated by VanSing Distribution Group; they are the exclusive franchise partner and distributor of TWG Tea in Canada.
As the brand gains a powerful global foothold, when it came time to turn to the North American market, Vancouver was an easy choice.
TWG Tea notes that Canadians are more thirsty for tea now than ever before. “In 2015, tea sales in Canada amounted to $1.3 billion CDN and consumption is expected to grow an additional 40 percent by 2020,” the company posits in a media release. And Canadians are willing to pay for high-end–and high-quality–brands.
With TWG Tea staff who are knowledgable and passionate about the brand, tea lovers can expect to be guided with expertise through the company’s robust tea portfolio.
From the sweet blueberry notes of their Red Balloon rooibos to their beautifully floral French Earl Grey, and many, many more (they have over 800 varieties of blends and harvests in their impressive collection), there is much to sip and savour at TWG Tea for tea enthusiasts.
The Vancouver TWG Tea will carry exclusive blends such as 1837 Black Tea and Silver Moon Tea along with deluxe varieties like the Haute Couture Tea Collection and Gold Yin Zhen. Along with loose and bagged teas, TWG Tea will have all kinds of tea accessories, including tea pots, kitchenware, tins, candles, tasting sets, and gifts galore.
In addition to serving as a one-stop tea shop, TWG Tea in Vancouver will include a salon in which tea will be present in the cup, and on the plate. Their chefs will be working TWG teas into sweet and savoury recipes for tea-time treats.
Already operating 56 locations in 17 cities, including London, Shanghai, Tokyo and Dubai, TWG Tea’s Vancouver location is set to open the first week of December.
Address: 1070 West Georgia Street, Vancouver
