Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and the rest of the star-studded Golden State Warriors will be making their way to Vancouver this year, playing the Raptors on October 1st at 4:30 pm PT at Rogers Arena.

This is the third consecutive year that the Raptors have come to Vancouver, with games against the Sacramento Kings in 2014 and the LA Clippers in 2015. The Raptors will once again hold their training camp in Vancouver as well.

Last year the Raptors also held games in Montreal, and Ottawa. After the game against Golden State, they’ll travel to Calgary for a game against the Denver Nuggets.

The Raptors have begun branding themselves as ‘Canada’s team’ in recent years and it appears to be working. Their ‘We the North’ campaign has been wildly successful.

Winning helps too, of course, and the Raptors have done a lot of that lately. The Raptors made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year and have 153 regular season wins over the last three years.

The Golden State Warriors, of course, have done a whole lot of winning of late as well.

Back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry has led his team to two consecutive NBA Finals appearances, winning a title in 2015. They’re also coming off the most successful regular season in NBA history with 73 wins and 9 losses.

With Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, the Warriors were already loaded. They then added former MVP Kevin Durant in the offseason, making them the odds-on favourites to win the NBA Championship. With all of Golden State’s other preseason games scheduled after October 1st, this could be the first chance to see Durant compete in a Warriors jersey.

This promises to be a little better than your average NBA preseason game.
