  • What: A celebration of comics, sci-fi, and gaming. Two of the original Power Rangers, X-Men actor Famke Janssen, Stephen Amell, and the Fonz are among the big stars at this year’s Fan Expo Vancouver in November.

The Lady Larks: Boogie Woogie Bugle Babes

  • What: In recognition of Remembrance Day, this vibrant vocal quartet will perform some of the most nostalgic ballads of the World War II era, as well as a few rousing marching songs for you to sing along to.

Smart People – Mitch and Murray Productions

  • What: Set on the historical night of Obama’s first election, this underdog production of Smart People explores race and identity in the best way possible—controversially, of course. Four ‘intellectuals’ (doctor, actress, psychologist, neurobiologist) embark on a modern-day comedy of manners, with one crucial twist: what happens when race is tossed into the mix?

  • What: John Mulaney has written for Saturday Night Live, has performed on Conan O’Brian and Jimmy Kimmel, and can be heard on Netflix’s Big Mouth. John bring’s his show Kid Gorgeous to Queen Elizabeth Theatre for two shows.

Interesting Vancouver 2017

  • What: An annual event that celebrates the curious and unexpected ways that people express creativity through hobbies, passions, and obsessions. From their offices, farms, studios, schools, workshops, or wherever else they squirrel away, speakers at Interesting Vancouver will be discussing something that they passionately care about.
  • When: Friday, November 10
  • Time: 6 to 10 pm

Missing – City Opera Vancouver

  • What: Getting up close and personal with a story you probably knew but never thought too deeply about, Missing honours over 1200 murdered and missing Aboriginal women and girls. The first-ever opera libretto by Canadian Métis playwright Marie Clements, the story is set in both the Downtown Eastside and the notorious Highway of Tears. Highlighting the devastation to communities of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, the opera is sung in both English and the First Nations language of Gitxsan.
