You’ve made it to the weekend. Celebrate by doing something fun. Here are five things to do in Vancouver on Friday, September 9.

Greek Food Festival

  • What: One of the city’s longest running cultural events, the Greek Food Festival kicks off on Friday. Try delicious lamb, souvlaki, gyro and calamari – all dishes are homemade, and include only the freshest and finest ingredients available.
  • When: Starts on Friday, September 9 and runs over two weekends. Festival runs on Fridays from 5 pm to 10 pm
  • Where: Hellenic Community Centre – 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver
  • Admission: Totally free

Oasis Beach Club 2016

  • What: A poolside party, comparable to the legendary fiestas found in Miami and St. Tropez, will hit Vancouver this summer. The inaugural Oasis Beach Club will take over the Second Beach Pool on September 9 for a music-fuelled cabana fiesta.
  • Where: Second Beach Pool – Stanley Park Drive, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, September 9, from 7 to 11 pm

Garden of Paradise

  • What: The exhibition of a body of work by Joseph Staples, featuring six video loops, each consisting of two GIFs juxtaposed onto each other, drawn from the Japanese anime, “Kotonoha no Niwa” and the singer, Lana Del Ray.
  • Where: Unit/Pitt Projects – 236 East Pender Street, Vancouver
  • When: From September 9, 7:30 pm opening reception to October 22

KINK Singles Mix and Mingle

  • What: If you are LGBTQS and you are wanting to get yourself out there and meet new people you can go to events with, hang out with or date, come on out. The venue is located in downtown Vancouver and will be posted closer to the date. Dress code is dress to impress, but not fetish as this will be a public venue and event. Keep an eye open and make conversation with everyone.
  • Where: Downtown Vancouver – exact location TBD
  • When: Friday, September 9; 7 to 10 pm

View some strange collections at the Museum of Vancouver

  • What: Corsets, vintage prosthetic limbs, pinball machines – these are just a few of the wacky collections curated by Vancouverites on display at the Museum of Vancouver. All of the collections have an interactive component.
