September has arrived in Surrey, and now is a great time to check out an exciting event like Pie in the Plaza, Art in the City, and more.

Pie in the Plaza / City of Surrey

  • What: Celebrate Agriculture Week at Central City Plaza (right outside Central City Shopping Centre) for this fun family event and see the creation of BC’s largest blueberry pie. Watch the pie being assembled and stay for a slice after the ceremonial pie cutting. There will also be other free, family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon.

Fleetwood Festival 

  • What: The 19th Annual Fleetwood Festival is designed to create a sense of community. Festivities include live entertainment, activities, a youth zone and more.

  • Where: Fleetwood Community Centre – 15996 – 84 Avenue, Surrey
  • Admission: Free

Olde Harvest Fair

  • What: The Olde Harvest Fair includes local food vendors and artisans, the Irish fiddle orchestra, Surrey’s re-enactment troupe The Re-Enactors, childrens activities, tours od the 1894 farmhouse, and more.
  • When: September 16
  • Time: 11 am to 3 pm
  • Where: Stewart Farm House – 13723 Crescent Road
  • Admission: Free

Antiques off the Roadshow

  • What: Rummage through the attic, check out the storage area in the garage, and bundle up that treasured item. All items will be given a verbal appraisal by experts who are knowledgeable about jewellery, antiques, collectibles, antiquarian books, and Asian, European, and First Nations art.
  • When: September 16
  • Time: Noon to 3 pm
  • Where: Surrey Art Gallery – 13750 88 Avenue, Surrey
  • Price: $10 for the first item, $5 for each additional item. No entrance fee.

Canada Golden Maple Film Festival: Shortlisted Film Screenings

  • What: Enjoy some of the films—ranging from action to romantic comedy to thrillers—shortlisted for the 2017 Canada Golden Maple Film Festival. This film festival raises awareness of the film industry, culture, media, and online network, and fosters the international development of the film industry.
  • When: September 22 to 23

Art’s Nursery Scarecrow Festival 2017

  • What: Come see and take pictures with over 60 scarecrows. This fun, family friendly event begins September 23rd with a kick-off party. Make your own scarecrow at the DIY Build-A-Crow station, have a hay ride, take part in kids crafts and activities and enjoy more activities. The scarecrows will be on display until Halloween.

Apple Fest at Darts Hill Garden

  • What: Celebrate the harvest at Darts Hill Garden Orchard. Take part in apple-activities and fall-festivities amongst the fall colours, including perennial planting workshops, Honeybee Centre demonstrations, orchard tours, seasonal snacks, live music, plant sale and more.

Art in the City

  • What: Art in the City is a two-day self guided art tour, offering a behind the scenes look into Surrey’s art scene. With over thirty participating artists and artisans, pique your interest with a glimpse into Surrey’s diverse art scene. Learn a new craft with artist-hosted workshops, or wander through artists’ collections in the galleries. The event runs in conjunction with the nation-wide Culture Days imitative to celebrate art, artists, and artisans right here in Surrey.

National Seniors Day Celebration

  • What: Learn why Surrey is and age-friendly city where people can enjoy lifelong activity and engagement. Listen to Dr. Art Hister and enjoy a musical performance by the Classics Brass Trio. Light refreshments will be served.
