This coming weekend, jazz fans both young and old will be flocking to downtown Vancouver.

An estimated 400,000 attendees are expected to flood the grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Square for the Downtown Jazz Weekend, taking place from Saturday, June 23 to Sunday, June 24.

The free-to-attend outdoor concert will host 30 performances over the two days on three different stages – the Georgia Stage, Robson Stage, and the Anthem Properties Sounds of Youth Stage.

Highlighted performers over the weekend include American rhythm dynamos Ghost-Note, UK-based vocalist and instrumentalist Gwyneth Herbert, and Brooklyn-based Nubian pop stars Alsarah & the Nubatones, among others.

Also at the two-day mini-festival will be food trucks, artisan markets, a large viewing screen, and two licensed bistros.

The 8′ by 15′ LED screen will give everyone in the audience a better viewing experience and both the Robson Street and Georgia Street ‘bistros’ will provide refreshments during and in-between sets.

According to Media Director and Co-Founder of the show, John Orysik, “the free Downtown Jazz Weekend is one of the most highly anticipated events” of the entire festival. “We’ve created a vibrant, accessible, ‘music and arts village’ right in the heart of the city.”

The Downtown Jazz Weekend takes place this coming weekend from 12 to 9 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
