Stabbing at Surrey's Sheraton Hotel sends 1 to hospital with serious injuries

Police are in the process of investigating a stabbing that took place at one of Metro Vancouver’s higher-end hotels.

At 5:30 am, Surrey RCMP was called to the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford hotel on the 104 Avenue of Surrey, responding to reports of a stabbing.

Heavy police presence was apparent as more than ten RCMP cruisers were called to the area.

An individual was found with heavy bleeding and serious injuries. They have since been transported to the hospital. No information on the identity or gender of the victim has been released, nor has the victim’s condition.

The hotel has since been secured and some areas remain closed off for investigation.

Update: RCMP have revealed that the suspect is described as a dark-skinned male with a shaved head.

Investigators currently believe that the event is an isolated occurrence and that there is no risk to the public.
