Upon further investigation, police determined that two vehicles, a Volkswagen and a Dodge, had been travelling eastbound and pulled over – the result of “an apparent driving dispute.”

Both parties made allegations of tailgating and high-beaming.

The passenger of the Volkswagen is suspected to have exited the car and bear sprayed the occupants of the Dodge vehicle.

Another occupant in the Volkswagen then stepped out of the vehicle but in the process stepped into oncoming traffic. He was struck by an oncoming truck.

The driver of the truck stopped immediately, however, and quickly called 911.

Emergency Health Services arrived and transported the man to the hospital. At this time, he is believed to have life-threatening injuries, no further updates on his wellbeing has been provided.

28-year-old Mohamed Halane from Surrey, an occupant of the Volkswagen vehicle, has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

He has been released and will appear in court on August 21, 2018.
