Man dies after being shot in Surrey on Monday morning

One man is dead and police are investigating after a shooting in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood this morning.

According to Surrey RCMP, the incident took place around 11:46 am, when officers were called to the 14600 block of Southview Drive for reports of shots fired.

Upon their arrival, they found an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds.

“Despite all attempts to revive the individual they succumbed to their injuries,” police said.

As a result of this incident, police said the area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for an “undetermined” amount of time.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, as well.

At this point, police said they are in the evidence gathering phase, and are offering no further details on the incident.
