Groundhog Day in Newton

  • What: Join Lou Jack the Groundhog in the Save-on-Foods Underground for a pyjama party to celebrate an early Groundhog Day. Complete with a petting zoo, mini golf, crafts, games, Science World demos, hot chocolate, live children’s entertainer and more. Plus start the day off with a free pancake breakfast and stick around to see if winter is ending early.

Family Valentine’s Train Ride

  • What: Bear Creek Train & Mini Golf presents the Family Valentine’s Train Ride, along with a crafting table and mini golf.

The Father

  • What:  The Father follows André, an 80-year-old man who was once a tap dancer, and now lives with his daughter, Anne, and her husband, Antoine. Or was André an engineer, whose daughter Anne lives in London with her new lover, Pierre? Either way, he’s still wearing his pyjamas, he can’t find his watch, and he’s starting to wonder if he’s losing control.

Family Flag Day at the Historic Stewart Farm

  • What: Go back in time for a unique family experience at the Historic Stewart Farm in South Surrey. The free, fun-filled drop-in event for all ages includes a chance to make a family crest, pioneer children’s games, a guided tour of the house, and more.

Lunar New Year Fest

Art classes at Arts Umbrella South Surrey

  • What: A fun, free morning of inspiring classes for young artists ages 2 to 5. Classes include Drawing and Painting, Dress Up Drama, and Mixed Media and Sculpture.

Classical Coffee Concert: At the Movies

  • What: Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann, aka the Bergmann Piano Duo, are famous for their razzle-dazzle playing and eclectic music choices. They will perform music from the big screen, including Oscar-nominated songs by Jerome Moross (The Big Country) and Ennio Morricone (The Mission). This will be topped up with George Gershwin’s jazz-influenced symphonic poem American in Paris and a selection of Leonard Bernstein’s songs from 1961’s West Side Story.

Celebrating Métis Art

  • What: Join Lisa Shepherd, Métis Artist, as she leads a free drop-in workshop that explores traditional Métis beadwork through an easy-to-draw pencil crayon project. Everyone’s individual completed art piece will be collected at the end of the workshop and displayed together in a larger collective art piece. Free bannock and prize giveaways. Open to Métis Youth and anyone interested in learning about Métis Culture.

The History of Romance

  • What: A playful and absurd show by comedy duo Hip.Bang! riffing on everything from Romeo and Juliet to the mess that is modern dating.
