Abbotsford high school student dies after medical emergency in class

A student at Rick Hansen Secondary has died after suffering a medical emergency in class Monday.

The student was transported to hospital after going into medical distress, but district spokesperson Kayla Stuckart told Daily Hive via email Tuesday that the teen died in hospital.

To protect the student’s privacy, Stuckart said she couldn’t disclose what the student was doing or what the medical emergency was.

Grief counsellors from the district will be at the school this week to help support students impacted by the death.
