Stone Sour + Halestorm announce January concert at Abbotsford Centre

American heavy metal band Stone Sour and country music group Halestorm are coming to Metro Vancouver in the new year.

That’s right, both groups have announced that they’ll be performing at the Abbotsford Centre on January 27, 2018, with special guests The Dead Deads.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Stone Sour’s formation and celebrates the group’s latest album, Hydrograd, as a new peak in such an extensive career. “We’ve done a lot, we’ve come a long way. You’re definitely humbled by the fact that so many people around the world support and love you, that’s a gift,” Corey Taylor said in a press release.

Stone Sour’s past five albums have sold more than two million copies and nine of their singles found spots on Billboard’s Top Ten Mainstream Rock Songs chart (including ‘Bother’ and ‘Through Glass’ which were certified gold and platinum, respectively). Oh, and three Grammy nominations, on top of that.

The new album marks a major step for the band. Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor, guitarists Josh Rand and Christian Martucci, bassist Johny Chow, and drummer Roy Mayorga, are expanding into new musical territory. Though fans can rest assured that Hydrograd still delivers the heavy, thunderous, metal-edged stuff usually associated with Stone Sour songs like ‘Whiplash Pants’ and ‘Taipei Person’, which are full of what Taylor calls “combustible moments.”
