Get your idea out there at Vancouver's Startup Weekend

Sometimes the hardest part of getting your startup off the ground is actually starting.

That’s what Startup Weekend Vancouver is combating with it’s eighth annual startup competition. Over 150 aspiring entrepreneurs will get together on November 18 to put their enterprising ideas into action.

Each delegate or team of delegates will work on their idea over the course of the weekend, creating a prototype and developing business plans.

A number of industry professionals will be at the event to provide feedback throughout the weekend, including:

• Gregg Peacock, product manager at Bench
• Hussein Hallak, GM of Launch Academy
• Alexandra Greenhill, CEO of MyBestHelper
• Erik Killian, director of sales at Spark
• Tam Kbeili, founder of CodeCore
• Denny Hollick, marketing director at WealthBar
• Ian Mackinnon, cofounder of Later

On Sunday night, delegates will present their startup prototypes to a panel of judges and potential investors. The top three winners will take home more than $10,000 in prizes – giving them the opportunity to take their startup to the next level.

Startup Weekend Vancouver is also offering a chance for one participant to win a scholarship to Lighthouse Lab’s part time iOS course.

Registration for Startup Weekend Vancouver ends on November 16 at midnight. Tickets for the event are $125. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are included all weekend.
